This really isn’t important to anybody but me, I’m sure. But I’ve come to realize that I need to write down all of these birthdays, or I’m bound to get confused and give somebody two different ones. So, for any of you who might care, I decided to list them here.
Matt: Jan 18
Me: Feb 11
Cole: April 3
Zach: April 14
Angelo: June 23 (isn’t it just like Ang to not even mention it to Zach in A to Z?)
Jared: Sept 21
George: Oct 10
Jon: Nov 12
And, I suppose this is as good a time as any to tell you that Strawberries for Dessert is nearing the final stages. I think it’s almost complete. I debated a title change a couple of days ago, but decided against it. Current word count is about 73,400 words. Right now, I’m thinking I should be able to submit it in the next week or two. With any luck, you’ll be able to read it sometime this summer. Hooray!

I have always had a thing for astrology and you, Matt, and Jared fit your signs dead on. Jared has a lot of Libra in him but he is born on the Virgo/Libra cusp so it’s accurate. Since I have only had limited exposure to Cole in Promises, I am not on board with his. I may come around as I read more of him.
All the best people I know are born under the sign of Aquarius! Oooooo, lame…
I’ve found it really interesting to see how well they ended up fitting into their spots. I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on Cole after you read Strawberries.
At first I had trouble reconciling Cole’s flightiness to his Aries sign. I find that to be a façade he is using as a way to handle certain things in his life. Underneath the flamboyance is a high-minded, opinionated Aries with a large dollop of arrogance which is actually a great match for the strong-minded, willful workaholic Scorpio (Jon). They both fit the signs and it made a very enjoyable story. Cole was much more of an Aries than Zach, in my opinion.
Angelo was also typical Moon Child (Cancer) in his personality. He was sensitive, moody, had a small build, cute with a quicksilver temperament.
I only have a couple of Marie books left to read. I need at 6 more to get me through the summer. Are you going to have that many by then? Wait? No? Girlfriend, get crackin’! LOL!
I actually don’t know anything about astrology, so I love it when it works out!
And six more books this summer? I’m afraid I’m not anywhere near that prolific, although (in addition to the one that came out today) I should have two more later this summer.
Thanks!
I have yet to read the first to the one out today but I am currently reading Blind Space. I look forward to the new books that are to come later.
Is it weird that I’m absurdly happy that I share a birthday with Cole? I find it even more impressive than the fact that that’s also Doris Day’s birthday. There are others born on the same date, but I find them all WAY less impressive…
Honey, I’m equally honored to share a birthday with you!
(AND he can cook?! SO not fair! Had to teach mine…and now all he wants to do is burn meat on the grill…at least one of us knows our way around a kitchen)
Hi! Me again.
I hope I’m not bothering you much.
I’m just really curious about ages. I know Cole and Jon are in their thirties, but I’m wondering who’s older than who? Not that it matters to the relationship, but it’s just one of those things, y’know like hair color, eye color that brings the character more in shape in my head. I surmise that Cole is 35 based on his comment about his dad dying when he was fifteen and that it was 20 yrs ago. And Jon is 32-33, coz he mentioned he was “not even 2″ yrs old when his sister drowned and it happened 30 yrs ago. Am I correct here? Thanks.
You’re not a bother at all!!
The truth is, I might actually have a bit of error regarding their ages. I kept getting confused when I was writing it, and the fact that the story ended up taking place over a year and a half, and it was almost done before I figured out when in the year it started, didn’t make it any easier. At the beginning of the story, Cole has just turned 35, and Jon is still 34. Jon’s reference to “thirty years ago” must be a bit of an error. Or, maybe he was estimating. Yeah, that’s it!
I also kept getting confused (in both SfD and TLZ) as to how long Jared and Cole had actually known each other. I think every reference to that has been off a bit. Cole tells Jon he’s known Jared for nearly twelve years. He probably should have said “nearly fifteen” if they met while still in college. In that case, I think it’s because I keep forgetting how young college students really are. Just proves I’m getting older!
Anyway, by the end of the story, most of the guys are around 37, except Angelo, who’s now 29.
Thanks for the question!
