Saturday Snark
It occurred to me the other day that I’ve never used One More Soldier for Saturday Snark. Well, it’s not exactly a funny story, but I did pull this little snippet out. This is Bran and Will having a little rendezvous at their apartment complex’s swimming pool.
It was completely dark by then, and the weak lights around the perimeter did little to illuminate the pool itself. I was in the deep end, hanging onto the edge so I didn’t have to tread water. I could see just enough in the low light to know Bran was swimming very slowly in my direction.
“Tell me you’re not having second thoughts,” he said.
“No,” I told him. “Are you?”
He laughed, a low throaty laugh thick with arousal, and already my body was reacting to him. “Definitely not,” Bran said, still slowly moving toward me. He was only a few feet away now.
“We can go upstairs,” I said.
He shook his head. “No.”
“Surely you don’t want to go to your room?”
He laughed. “God, no!” By now, he was in front of me. Bran reached over my shoulder, grabbing the wall behind me to steady himself. “I want to stay here,” he said suggestively.
“Here?” I asked uncertainly. My pulse started to race just thinking about it.
“Yes.” He pushed closer. His erection ground against my own and I moaned. He kissed my jaw, and then his tongue touched my ear. “I told you I used to think about you,” he whispered, and his free hand slid between us to rub against my erect cock. “This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.”
“What if somebody comes?” I asked nervously.
His laugh in my ear was soft and throaty. “That’s the idea.”
“I meant to the pool!”

Michele ‘n Jeff’s Best of 2010
It feels like Cole’s been getting all the love lately, but I’m happy to announce that One More Soldier made Michele ‘n Jeff Review’s Best of 2010 list!
An interview and a great review!
I was featured today on Michelle N Jeff Reviews! Please check out my interview, and the fabulous review of One More Soldier.
Working on something new
Do you all get tired of these random updates? For better or worse, I seem to do a lot of them.
Well, here goes…
One More Soldier has been out for a week now, and so far most of the feedback has been very good. I knew this story wouldn’t necessarily appeal to everybody. Then again, what story does?
Strawberries for Dessert will be released on August 6th by Dreamspinner Press. I’m so excited about this book! I hope you all love it as much as a few of my beta readers.
My good friend Ethan Stone is only days away from officially being a published author! I’m so excited for him. Be sure to check out his story Being Taught, available from Dreamspinner Press on July 28th. Ethan’s first novel, In the Flesh, will be available on August 27th.
Some of you are probably wondering about the Paris story. This is the third (and hopefully final) book for Zach and Angelo, and the good news is, I finished it a couple of weeks ago. The bad news is, it’s really not up to par. There’s something wrong with it, but I’m not sure exactly what. So, for the time being at least, that story is on hold. I will finish it eventually, I promise. Angelo would never let me abandon him completely.
Right now I’m working on a yet-unnamed story about a massage therapist and a playboy. Here. Let me introduce you. This is Jaime:
And this is Levi:
Aren’t they lovely? Together, they’re weighing in about 25,000 words right now, which is the point where the story always starts to feel less like fun and more like pulling teeth. But I’ll keep writing and hoping that the pieces will eventually fall into place. Because, let’s face it, those two men are hot. And together, they’re absolutely smoking.
I’ll be back on the 28th to remind you to buy Ethan’s story. Then starting on the 29th, I believe there will be a contest over at Stumbling Over Chaos for a copy of Strawberries for Dessert. On August 1st (or was it the 2nd?), I have some guests stopping by on a blog tour. And then it will be August 6th – time to break out the Arbor Mist and celebrate! I can’t wait!
Cole’s interview
Julie Lynn Hayes stopped by Cole’s house and interviewed him about the upcoming release of Strawberries for Dessert. You can read it here. Strawberries for Dessert will be released on August 6th.
In other news, my brain is currently on sabbatical and I am not making any progress on anything right now. It’s extremely frustrating, but will hopefully be short lived.
Hope you’re all having a great summer!
One More Soldier now available
One More Soldier is now available from Silver Publishing. It’s also on Kindle.
Just another random update…
It seems that it must be about time for another random update, so here goes…
As most of you probably know, I’ve been working on the third book for Zach and Angelo, currently being referred to simply as ‘the Paris story’. I don’t think I’ve had this much trouble with a book since…. well, since A to Z. :-) Luckily, about a week ago, Heidi and Randy Jansen came along and kicked Zach and I into gear, and it’s been all downhill from there. I think this will be Zach and Angelo’s final book (did I say that after The Letter Z, too?). At the moment, it’s just over 30,000 words (about the same length as TLZ). I’m happy to announce that it’s close to being finished, except… I still haven’t figured out a darn title!
Here’s the thing: my current title idea is going to require a tiny bit of research and maybe some discussion with my publisher over copyright issues. And if that all works out, it will then require a few tiny revisions. If it doesn’t work out, then I’m back to square one on this. I did post an unofficial contest last week for title suggestions, and I want to thank those of you who responded. There were only three of you, and I have not ruled out any of your titles just yet. So, to Kara, Vladim, and Luigia, what I’ve decided to do is send all three of you a free copy of this ebook, assuming it does end up being published some day.
And I’m an airhead, so don’t be shy about reminding me if and when the time comes! I mean it.
One More Soldier will be released in eight days. This is my first story that is unrelated to my boys in Coda. I’m not even sure I’d classify it as a romance, although it’s definitely about the power of love. I hope you’ll check it out. It’s only $2.99, and you can purchase it here.
Still no release date on Strawberries for Dessert, but I’ll let you know as soon as I have one.
We’re still trying to sell our house, and although we’ve had a billion showings, we have yet to receive an offer. We just lowered our price a bit. Although keeping our house in “showable” condition has been easier than expected, the showings have been a PITA. For each one, I have to leave the house with my child and my dog, and be gone for one to two hours. Having the dog makes it very difficult to find things to do. It’s been way too hot here to leave him in the car. When Kendall’s at day camp, Jango and I end up sitting at Sonic (I might gain twenty pounds by the time this is all over). I read, and he watches squirrels. But the days when I have both dog and child are harder, because the child gets bored of sitting in the car. Yes, I know what you’re going to say. I could take them both to a park. For those of you who are able to spend two hours sitting at a park with your dog, happily watching your child play, I salute you. I applaud you. I admire you.
I sort of hate you.
Seriously, I’m just not that mom. I’m not. Twenty minutes at the park I can take. But two hours of sitting there, listening to endless repetitions of “look at me, mommy!” while roasting in the heat, keeping my dog on a short leash because he doesn’t play well with others, and constantly fending off other dogs whose owners don’t leash them – that’s not fun for me. That’s torture.
Anyway, I’m getting way off topic. The point of that little tangent was to tell you that yesterday, as Jango and I were sitting in the car, I read Sweet Son by Heidi Cullinan. This is one of Dreamspinner’s Fairy Tales series, and people, it’s hot. And more than a little bit twisted. It will be released on July 14th. I suggest you check it out, especially if you like a little good old-fashioned kink in your sweet fairy tales.
I’m now once again facing that between-project dilemma of what to do next. I think I’m going to make myself work on Cockaigne, at least a tiny bit. I’m becoming resolved to that book being more of a long-term project. And then, I have a little seed germinating in my brain about a massage therapist. But, we’ll see.
Be sure to check back for a release date for Strawberries for Dessert, and I hope you’re having a truly fabulous summer!
Check it out!
Check out my fabulous cover! One More Soldier will be released by Silver Publishing on July 17th.
Home again!
I returned Monday evening from a weekend at Capital City Pride in Des Moines, Iowa with Heidi Cullinan (and because I grew tired of fighting with WordPress, you will have to look at the post below to see photos). It was so much fun. I sold a few books, handed out about a billions cards, got sunburned, rained on, hit on, and eventually returned to Colorado feeling like something that one of Heidi’s cats might have dragged in. Honestly, I can’t wait to do it again!
Strawberries for Dessert is now in the editing stage with Dreamspinner Press. If you haven’t seen it yet, I do have the official blurb now, so check out the SfD page (link on the right). I’ll post cover art as soon as I have it.
My story One More Soldier has been accepted by Silver Publishing. This will be my first published story that is in no way related to my boys from Coda, so it seemed appropriate that it come from a different publisher. I’ll post more info on that too, as I receive it.
I vowed to myself that I was going to tackle Cockaigne upon returning from Iowa, although the truth is, I had a couple of new ideas frolicking around in my head as I drove across Nebraska. Honestly, I have no idea what I’m going to do next. Between getting our house ready for the market, going on vacation, having my daughter’s birthday party and relatives in town, and going to Des Moines, the last six weeks have felt like complete chaos. At the moment, I’m just happy to have my normal life back at last. I think I’ll just sit back and relax for a few days at least, and see which of the voices in my head is most adamant about being heard.
