Aren Montrell has heard tales of the Oestend wraiths – mysterious creatures which come in the night and kill anyone who’s not indoors. Aren’s never had reason to believe the stories, but when he takes a job as a bookkeeper on the BarChi, a dusty cattle ranch on the remote Oestend prairie, he soon learns that the wraiths are real. Aren suddenly finds himself living in a supposedly haunted house and depending on wards and generators to protect him from unseen things in the night. As if that’s not enough, he has to deal with a crotchety old blind woman, face “cows” that look like nothing he’s ever seen before, and try to ignore the fact that he’s apparently the most eligible bachelor around.
Aren also finds himself the one and only confidante of Deacon, the BarChi’s burly foreman. Deacon runs the BarChi with an iron fist and is obviously relieved to finally have somebody he can talk to. As their relationship grows, Aren learns there’s more to Deacon and the BarChi than he’d anticipated. Deacon seems determined to deny both his Oestend heritage and any claim he may have to the BarChi ranch, but if Aren is to survive the perils of Oestend, he’ll will have to convince Deacon to stop running from the past and finally claim everything that’s his.
Note on Pronunciation: It’s not as hard as you might think. I actually took it from the Spanish word for west. Just say oh-EST. If you say it really fast, it sounds like “west”. Now, add the “end”. Oestend. (Simplified: oh-west-end).

I just finished and I must say that I LOVED it! I loved the length, it really allowed you to get to know the characters which I love. Once you get invested in the characters you really want to know more and I am glad that you are writing a follow up, but where is Aren? and what do you mean no Menage? lol
Thanks Rachelle! I’m so glad you liked it! The follow-up is about 2/3 finished right now. It’s Frances and Simon, plus Dante and his new love interest on the Austin ranch. But don’t worry. You’ll get to see Aren and Deacon again, too.
I just finished reading this and ummm…wow!!! It was fabulous… I loved it from start to finish, loved the characters, loved the kinkiness (very different for u and so good!), it was just great. Looking forward to anything else you do, as usual.
1 question though: do you have pictures of what Deacon and Aren look like? I looked all over the site but couldn’t find them…lol.

Hi Erika! Thanks so much for your comment. I’m really glad you enjoyed Oestend. As my first non-contemporary, it’s a book I’m pretty proud of. I’m actually working on a followup story right now that features Dante, Frances and Simon. (Not a menage, though.)
I haven’t found a good picture of Deacon, unfortunately, although Jason Momoa as Conan isn’t too far off. Aren started with this picture. I bought it last year at YaoiCon. I don’t know much about Yaoi, so I don’t know who the artist is or who the character is or what story he’s in, but this picture is very much Aren to me.

Am I the first one to say “thank you” for that wonderful book since it’s been released? Well I must say that like all your books, I am not disapointed since I just loved this one too.
Not only it made me travel in a very faraway and unknowned land you really managed to make real to me but you also have a way of building wonderful and profound characters that touch us in one or another way, with a spice of humour. …And I don’t talk about the kinky side! Who would have thought you had it in you, LOL? But it was an unusual and very sexy turn I liked taht I hope to find some more in future books. It was like “the cherry on top of the cake” like we say in French, very… yummy and sweet…
Seing this book was more tha 200-page-long made me bounce and I just devoured it in a few hours only. Please, tell me it’s gonna be printed… Pretty please?

Awesome story…couln’t put it down. I love all your books, although promises is my favorite, Song of Oestend comes in very close as second. Although I was wondering are Frances and Simon going to have their own story, or is Frances correct when he says Simon isn’t like him an Aren?

A story for Frances and Simon has been brewing in my brain ever since I first introduced the characters. I don’t know if it will ever come about, but it’s certainly a possibility.
