Life on the prairie has never been easy, but now Oestend itself seems bent on destruction.
Banished from the BarChi by the man he loves, Dante Pane must find a way to heal his broken heart while homesteading a new ranch. Unable to love women, afraid to love men, Dante wants only to find some peace. But peace is hard to come by in Oestend.
Ranch hands Simon and Frances came to Dante’s ranch to help him rebuild, but they’re beginning to think the place is cursed. Every building reeks of death, and strange occurrences plague the land – dead animals, unnatural weather, and voices riding wind. The men hate to return to the BarChi in defeat, but it’s the only place unaffected by whatever sickness has taken hold of the prairie.
While Simon struggles with the ghosts of his past and the nature of his partnership with Frances, Dante must convince Deacon and Aren to trust him again, because there’s more at stake than his ranch. Oestend is in trouble, and it will take all of them working together to set things right.
This book is a sequel to Song of Oestend.

Hi Marie I just finished reading book 1 and 2 from this series (Oestend). I was wondering if you will reward your readers with the story of Frances and Simon 🙂 I adore their interaction with each other in both books. And the secret of about Cami !!!…OMG, I dropped my Kindle. I really enjoyed both books. Thank you very much.
Your timing in uncanny! It just so happens that I’m re-editing both Oestend books right now for re-release this summer. There aren’t many changes to the first book, but there will be some changes to the second book, specifically in relation to Simon and Frances.
It’s possible there will also eventually be a third book as well, or possibly a volume of short stories set in Oestend. Right now, I have too many books I want to write and not enough time! LOL.
At any rate, I’m so glad you enjoyed the books! The Oestend series are absolutely my favorites of my own books. 🙂 Thanks!
Just finish Saviours…loved both books. Purchased them a Northern Colorado Pride this summer while I was visiting family. A fun and exciting read. More. I would like to read more of Oestend. Or something similar. I loved the old west images.
Thanks Marie…fun read.
Thanks so much, Maury! I’m so glad you enjoyed them!
I just finished `Saviours.` Another great story. There was so much here, relationships of all kinds, the western backdrop, the environmental theme, the indigenous peoples` theme. In fact, perhaps too much for the space. But the story was engrossing and well-crafted. My favorites: Simon`s growth in recognizing his love for Frances, Dante`s ‘healing` with Cami, and especially the `peace` on p. 356 between brothers Dante and Deacon. Beautifully witnessed and so real and honest, nothing out of place nor false. My favoirte line., “It wasn`t quite an apology, but Dante knew the sentiment was there.”
A few regrets….more about Cami`s past and self-acceptance, more OLSA!!!! and more Ainuai in general. Yet, I loved it. Good work again. So many strands here could be continued….My favorite book is still `”Saints` though. So complete and balanced…sex, love family and faith. Looking forward to my next Sexton read. I`ll keep you posted.
Bradley:)))
Thanks Bradley. I’m glad you enjoyed it. If you want more Olsa and more info about the Ainuai, you should read the first book in the series, Song of Oestend. 🙂
Hi there,
I just started `Saviours` and I have the feeling that I will love it as much as `Promises` and `Sinners.` I love the western motif! I conjure up images of Eastern Colorado and mix them together with elements of`Brokeback Mountain!` And another compliment. Thank you for writing your stories. They have given me (and I am sure countless others!) great comfort in accepting myself especially in regards to sex. Your sex scenes are the best I`ve read anywhere and I`m an over-read book addict if there ever was one. They way you create hot lusty action scenes ALONG with deep-felt, spiritual and emotional intimacy is simply amazing. Only a woman couild do this! I think a lot of men—irregardless their sexual orientation—could learn a lot about sexual and emotional intimacy (i.e making love!) from your books. I know I do and I hope to put this knowledge into practice someday soon:)))
Thanks Bradley! I appreciate that very much. And I’m really glad you’re enjoying the books! 🙂
omg i love these stories there so beautifully written, i would love to see a 3rd one in the collection. keep up the good work marie.
Thanks, Jordan! A third one is not out of the question, although I don’t have anything in the works at the moment. 🙂
really don’t get my hopes up lol, but really they are amazing … i’m reading promises again now x
p.s if there is a 3rd one witch btw would be better than winning the lottery make it longer i always get kinda depressed when they end 🙂 x
I’ve just finished reading the book. It took me less than a day, I was so engrossed in the story. I absolutely loved it. “Song of Oestend” was very, very good, but this was even better. Dante and Cami’s part was nice, but my favorite couple were Frances and Simon <3 Do you plan to continue the series somehow? The wraiths were banished, so this part of the plot is obviously closed, but I hope maybe you would come up with something one day… I'd certainly be thrilled! To be honest, I wouldn't even mind 200+ pages just about Frances and Simon's running their sheep ranch and being cute with each other ;D But that's just me, I'm afraid some readers (and the publisher!) could frown on that. Anyway, it'd be great if you ever write something in this universe again. Thank you for this great read.
Thanks Sylwia! I’m so glad you liked it. I don’t have anything specific in mind for a sequel, but it’s not an impossibility. I actually have one friend who’s asked me to write Alissa’s story on Dante’s ranch. That would obviously be something pretty new and different for me, since it would be a f/f story. LOL. Truthfully, I’ve been wondering what other kinds of threats might show up in Oestend, now that the wraiths are gone. I hate to let that land rest too easy. 😉
Either way, there’s nothing in the works, but there’s no telling what could happen.
Thanks again, and I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I just read both Song and Saviours of Oestend in about 3 days straight. I’ll admit I stayed up till about 1 in the morning every night till I had to literally force myself to try and sleep (bad for someone with a job at 6am) and I’m fairly sure I missed a few meals due to being too distracted in reading. These books were great, the appeal of paranormal fantasy and romance was a strange and wonderful mix. The Native American twist is what initially what caught my attention in the first place and I was not disappointing in the beautiful representation both books held, and the fact that all of the romances were so very different (LGBT, different roles different backgrounds etc ) all of them were still so very pure and just showed ‘love’. Was beautiful. The characters were unique and easy to both relate to and understand on their own levels. Again I really did devour these books and you are very easily one of my favorite authors and I greatly look forward to reading more of your work and any future work you write <3
Thanks so much, Kelley! I’m really fond of my Oestend boys, and I’m glad you enjoyed them. 🙂
read the excerpt. i’m gonna add a woo hoo!
